Eugene Weldon Rose, age 83, passed away on May 12, 2009, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. Eugene was born to William “Curly” Rose and Goldie Miler Rose on July 12, 1925, at Carson Iowa. He attended school in Carson and served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.

He married Larene Krieger on Feb. 19, 1947. He retired from Northern Natural Gas Co. after 39 years of service. Living locations include Oakland, Iowa, Holcomb, Garden City, Lyons, and Pratt, KS. He was involved in VFW, American Legion, Pratt County Museum and the B–29 All Veterans Memorial.

Eugene was a professional wood craftsman, which he enjoyed as a hobby.
He is survived by his wife Larene; three children, Ronnie and fiancée Chris Rose of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Jerry and wife Martha Rose of Oxford, N.H. and Carol and husband Dick Bell of Afton, Iowa; a sister, Laurann Rose; two brothers, Clarence and Frank, all of Carson, Iowa; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barbara and Elizabeth; and four brothers, Floyd, Ernest, Delbert and Fay; and two grandchildren in infancy.

Cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held at a later date at Wheeler Grove Township Cemetery near Carson, Iowa.
