On Tuesday, April 7, 2009, Secretary/Treasurer Dea Dix-Brown called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m. Those attending were Phillip Schulz, Gene Rose, John Cochran, Lori Jones, Jack McCawley, Marsha Brown, George Stevens, Sgt. John McGraw and Milt Martin.

The March meeting was cancelled so there were no minutes for approval.

The Treasurer’s Report was addressed next. The checkbook balance was $2,330.61 after paying bills to SC Telcom $34.34 (Feb.) & $38.21 (Mar.), Secretary of State $40.00 and Kahmeyer Accounting $155.00 and deposits of $125.00 from a brick sale and $20.00 from the Lisle Hatfield memorial. Dea B. stated that the 2008 tax return was completed and submitted in February. The 501 (c)(3) was renewed indefinitely as long as a tax form 990 was filed annually.

Phillip S. gave an update on the museum status. He went to Topeka on February 21, 2009 for the State Historical meeting requesting the parachute building be placed on the National Historical Registry. The State of Kansas granted approval for the parachute building to be listed on the State Historical Registry. The request automatically proceeds to the National Park Service then on the National Historical Registry then once approved at the national level, grants can be applied for.

The north hangar demolition began April 6, 2009.

Dea B. thanked Gene R. and George S. for changing the east light at the Memorial.

Lori J. asked about switching the Big Brother Big Sisters office with the Memorial group due to privacy reasons. George S. stated that he talked with the secretary and that the move wouldn’t be necessary. Dea ask who all had a set of keys to the building and offices. Phillip S., George S. and Gene R. stated that each had complete sets.

Phillip S. stated that due to lack of attendance at the Memorial meeting suggested the possibility of cutting down the monthly meetings. The group didn’t have a problem with the idea but John C. suggested meeting three (3) to four (4) times a year to coincide with Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies.

John C. made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Milt M. seconded. The meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.

THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE TUESDAY, MAY 5TH AT 5:30 P.M. AT THE PRATT COMMUNITY CENTER.
